The month of December is themed as Disease Prevention and Treatment Month in the Rotary International calendar: “Disease can lead to pain or poverty for millions of people worldwide. That’s why treating and preventing disease is so important to us. Our members combat diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and polio. Prevention is important, which is why we also focus on health education and providing people with routine hearing, vision, and dental care. Although the world is on the brink of eradicating polio and is gaining in the battle against HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis, about 3 in 5 deaths worldwide are caused by noncommunicable diseases like heart and lung disease, diabetes, and cancer. A billion people suffer from tropical illnesses such as dengue fever, sleeping sickness, and river blindness.” Source: https://ift.tt/dQY0u1B #createhopeintheworld #peopleofaction #Diseasepreventionandtreatment #rotaryinternational
