Manama: The Rotary Club of Manama (RCM) recently held its regular weekly meeting, hosting an interesting discussion on the growing global approach to opt for cashless transactions and its reflection on the Bahraini economy in recent years.

Chaired by RCM President Ms. Marjan Modara, the online meeting hosted BENEFIT CEO Mr. Abdulwahed Al Janahi and was attended by RCM members and guests, as well as presidents and members of the sister Rotary Clubs in Bahrain.

Mr. Al Janahi spoke during the meeting about the increasing trend of utilising cashless transactions, which have been widely adopted by public and private institutions in the past decade. The CEO also highlighted the importance of applying such payment methods amidst the current circumstances, in light of the global outbreak of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and the efforts exerted to combat its spreading.

“There is a global trend to depend more on cashless transactions, especially amidst the unusual circumstances imposed by the outbreak of Covid-19 since the beginning of this year. As a company specialised in electronic financial transactions, we have launched several leading and innovative initiatives that enable the public of completing their transactions electronically, serving the purpose of social distancing and contributing to the international efforts devoted to curb the spread of viruses and diseases,” Mr. Al Janahi said.

For her part, Ms. Modara affirmed that the Club, through its weekly meetings, aims to shed light on essential topics that benefit the community and contribute to its flourishing, with a focus on education, health, social matters and more. She added that RCM has scheduled several interesting topics to be highlighted in its upcoming meetings, hosting experts and specialists who would enrich the discussion.

Founded in 1965, RCM consists of 58 members who have been actively participating and organizing key community projects for the past five decades, with the aim of contributing towards societal needs. The Club forms part of Rotary International which is the world’s first service club organization and includes over 1.2 million members.
